A person can have a Gastrostomy tube for a number of reasons, receiving nutritional support and medication directly into their stomach.

This 3 hour training course provides the theory around how to care for someone with a Gastrostomy tube including;

- What is a Gastrostomy, and different types of Gastrostomy tube

- Care and monitoring of a Gastrostomy site and what to do in the event of an emergency.

- Preparing and administering enteral feeds and how to set up an enteral feed pump.

- Following an enteral feeding regime.

- Administering medication via a Gastrostomy.

Caring for someone with a Gastrostomy

 

 

A Jejunostomy is an opening directly into the Jejunum part of the small bowel, used to administer food and medication. People who have a Jejunostomy tube need some specific support in relation to this tube.

This 3 hour course provides the theory around how to care for someone with a Jejunostomy tube including;

- What is a Jejunostomy, and what is the difference between a Gastrostomy and a Jejunostomy.

- Care and monitoring of a Jejunostomy site and what to do in the event of an emergency.

- Preparing and administering enteral feeds and how to set up an enteral feed pump.

- Following an enteral feeding regime via a Jejunostomy tube.

- Administering medication via a Jejunostomy.

This 3 hour training course provides the theory around how to care for someone with a Nasogastric tube (NG) including;

- What is an NG Tube, and why is it used?

- Care and monitoring of an NG Tube and what to do in the event of an emergency.

- Preparing and administering enteral feeds and how to set up an enteral feed pump.

- Following an enteral feeding regime.

- Administering medication via an NGT.
